Singapore - Hop-on, Hop-off Bus

On Wednesday, we took a city tour on the Hop-on, Hop-off bus system. This gave us a good feel for the broader city. We visited the Financial sector, Marina Bay, Chinatown, the Botanical Gardens, Little India and the Malay district.

The architecture in Singapore is world class

The Marina Bay Hotel and Casino Complex

Singapore is a major financial centre in South East Asia

They still preserve some of their old buildings from pre-WWII.
A lot of Singapore was bombed out with the Japanese seege of the
country which lasted 7 months

The Singapore river runs through the centre of city

There are still lots of old British colonial homes there.

With lots of modern buildings around them

Including the famous Raffles Hotel

There is a very large Chinese population in Singapore who were
celebrating the Year of the Chicken

With the tropical climate comes lots of vegetation, including on buildings

"Little India" houses the centre of the India community in Singapore

And Kampong Glam district home to the Malay community, a predominantly Muslim area

However, the British also brought the Church of England with them
