Singapore Stop-over

We arrived back in Singapore for a 1 day stop-over to pick up new passengers. We got off and took the MRT (very modern subway) to the Marina Bay area and went to the new Botanical Garden complex.  It was a spectacular exhibition of flora, flowers, plants and fona.  They have two large glass domes that house eco-systems; one for dry vegetation (think desert) and one for wet vegetation (think rain forest). There is also a huge element of sustainability and climate change in the themes represented.  Jim and Cathy decided to take the Hop-on, Hop-off bus tour.

A view of the site from on top of the Marina Bay Hotel.
It was a huge park setting on reclaimed land mass

These are the man-made environmental trees which are totally self sufficient on green energy

The 'dry eco-system' was full of desert plants

The barrel tree from Africa stores water in it's trunk

There were lots of beautiful flowers

The building was huge and was an amazing environement

The 'wet eco-system' had a 100 foot waterfall in a rain forest environment
